2022! - The Year of the Pentester.

The Pentester Blueprint, by Phillip Wylie and Kim Crawley is a great intro to the Pentesting field. The book reads well and does not drag on. However, because of the length at 172pgs, the depth of knowledge is minimal. The author's do not leave you without a path to learn more into all topics provided. Most paths provided contain free and paid resources. As someone who is trying to break into the pentesting field, this book describes my methodologies after a year of research perfectly. Some of the topics include:

  • Pentesting Basics / Terminology

  • Education and Certifications

  • Raising your chances of getting a Pentesting Job

  • Stories from real-life Pentesters, engineers and those in the cybersecurity field

The confidence I gained from this assurance was worth the time and money spent. I even added a few books to my must read list. I often see Phillip interacting with the cybersecurity community on LinkedIn and recommend adding him for quality posts and his Podcast, "The Hacker Factory". On to the next book of 2022, Ghost in the Wires, by Kevin Mitnick. It's my first book by him and seems highly recommended.
